Ombudsman Chicago West is a multi-cultural CPS alternative options high school whose primary focus is dedicated to the academic, social, and personal growth of each student.
Located at 3222 W. Roosevelt, Ombudsman Chicago West welcomes learners who span a diverse cultural spectrum. The staff of Ombudsman Chicago West prepares students for real-world living and continuing education equipped with an advanced level of cooperative learning, problem-solving and thinking skills. We have two sessions: one from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and another from noon to 4 p.m.
Ombudsman Chicago West serves a diverse population of learners including those students who are credit deficient, on track to graduate, and even those who want to graduate early with a Chicago diploma. Our dynamic teachers offer a wide range of opportunities for students to achieve success including computer-based and in-person course offerings, one-on-one personal attention, and co-operative and group learning sessions.

Yes, Ombudsman is a nationally accredited program by Cognia and is a partner of the Chicago Public Schools.
Yes, we do take credits previously earned at other CPS schools, and if you decide to go back to your old CPS high school our credits are transferable.
Students earn a fully accredited Chicago Public Schools high school diploma (not a GED) that can be used to enter college, the military, trade school, or anywhere else that requires a diploma.
Yes, every year we will host our traditional graduation ceremony at the end of the school year to celebrate all graduates from that year. During the celebration, students wear caps and gowns and get to walk across the stage with their class.

Yes, we will discuss your education history and develop a plan that fits your individual needs?
Yes, you only need to live within the city of Chicago and be between the ages of 16-21, no matter the country of origin. If the English language is a barrier, our classes and learning materials are held in a technology-rich setting where all course material can be translated.
Our classrooms tend to be smaller and while in school, students are immersed in a blended learning environment. What this means is teacher lead instruction is offered for all core courses, Spanish as well as scheduled small group instruction and teacher supports during computer assisted instruction, project based learning and individual supports schedule. Students attend a 4-hour session and are required to complete and additional hour each day that can be done on or off site.
Students attend school for five hours a day Monday-Friday. You’ll have the option to attend our morning or afternoon session. Our Northwest campus also offers a night session.

Students who live in the city of Chicago and are between the ages of 16-21 can attend Ombudsman.

Welcome to Ombudsman Chicago West, home of the mighty lions! We are the “pride” of the west side, on the prowl for academic success. At Ombudsman-West, we believe that ALL students can achieve great strides in academic growth, social/emotional development, and post-secondary career planning. Our school is comprised of a group of dedicated faculty and staff that are committed to providing a safe, caring, and academically rigorous environment for all students served. Diversity is celebrated in our school, and we aim to provide meaningful experiences to spark new passions for learning.
At Ombudsman West we are proud to serve the needs of students and families in our community. Parental involvement is an essential wind that can move our ship forward on this journey of a new school year. We strongly encourage our parents to visit our school, maintain an open line of communication with our faculty/staff, and participate in all activities that we will have planned for the 2024-2025 school year. There are a variety of academic and enrichment-based programming at Ombdusman. From after-school tutoring to clubs and fields trips, we want all students and parents to be involved in all available services of interest. We will circulate a campus newsletter to keep all students and families informed of important dates to remember (report card pick-up, parent/teacher conferences, testing dates, etc.) and upcoming events. Together, we can move our students one step closer to the finish line of graduation!
