At Ombudsman Chicago, we’re committed to helping students plan for their future success. Our dedicated staff and community partners collaborate closely with students to ensure they have solid plans in place before graduation.
Post-Secondary Preparation
Every student participates in grade-level seminar courses designed to explore and prepare for their post-secondary goals. We work closely with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) through school links to equip all students with essential skills, such as resume writing, completing job and college applications, applying for financial aid, scholarships, and more.
Test Preparation
We prioritize comprehensive test preparation, helping students excel in the STAR assessment and SAT college entrance test. Our study boot camps, led by certified teachers, offer personalized assistance in small groups or one-on-one settings to ensure students are ready for local, state, and national tests.
Exploring College and Careers
Our campuses organize college and career fairs and arrange tours of local college campuses, including esteemed institutions like Northeastern University, East West University, City Colleges of Chicago, and St. Augustine College, among others. Students gain valuable insights into various careers through visits to local companies and engaging company presentations right at school.
Financial Aid and Future Planning
Ombudsman Chicago hosts financial aid workshops throughout the school year, assisting parents in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) during parent nights. We also engage with local businesses, colleges, universities, and organizations like Ladder Up to provide robust support as students plan their future pathways.
Workforce Referrals
Ombudsman Chicago actively participates in the STRIVE Workforce Development Program and the Construction Internship Program, Chicago Builds, sponsored by Chicago Public Schools. Additionally, we offer a summer internship program within our schools and collaborate with career training and placement agencies like Metropolitan Family Services and the Youth Job Center to empower students to find meaningful employment opportunities.
Microsoft Education Program
While at Ombudsman, students can take industry-recognized courses in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. After completing each course, students can test for certification, which can open doors to college, trades, or the workforce.
Career and Technical Education (CTE)
We connect students with Career and Technical Education courses, internships, and work-based training programs. Partnering with community organizations at each campus, we offer students diverse options to explore and develop their post-secondary plans.
At Ombudsman Chicago, we’re not just preparing students for high school graduation; we’re equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and resources they need to thrive in their future endeavors.
